Some third party SyQuest formatting software changes the vendor name on a cartridge from SyQuest to something else. Apparently this happens when the cartridge is formatted.
Since PLI's formatting software looks for the SyQuest label on a cartridge (this is installed at the SyQuest factory) before it allows you to perform an operation, it returns a message indicating that the software was not designed to work with it. The solution is to run the program 'Vendor Changer' which changes the cartridge label back to SyQuest.
Insert the cartridge that you need to work with. Double click 'Vendor Changer' and select the cartridge. Click 'Start Change' to change the name. It will tell you whether or not it was successful. Quit out of the program and you should then be able to format the cartridge with PLI software. This operation is not destructive, but you should back up your data before you run it just to be safe.
